Bat-Signal to light up Los Angeles in tribute to Adam West

Actor Burt Ward, who played Robin alongside Adam West's Batman in the hit 1960s TV series, also paid tribute to his co-star, telling the BBC that the two had enjoyed "an fantastic friendship", describing the actor as "a lot of fun". Obviously, it saddened the people who worked with him on Batman and more recent projects like Family Guy, but it also had an impact on the millions of fans who enjoyed his work. You obviously can not recast someone as "Adam West", and nor do we get the sense that this is something that Seth MacFarlane would even want to do to someone he considered to be a friend.

Los Angeles will pay tribute to the late Adam West, the title role of the campy 1960s "Batman" TV show, on Thursday night by shining a "Bat Signal" into the night sky, Entertainment Weekly reported Wednesday.

The world mourned when Batman icon Adam West passed away earlier this week after battling with leukemia.

Fans are urged to attend in their best Batman outfits. An Adam West tribute card will run at the beginning of the episode, which airs at 8:30pm ET.

"Family Guy has lost its mayor, and I have lost a friend". "Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you have given, Mr. Mayor".

Given West's long tenure with the show, and how beloved his character was, it makes sense that Family Guy will honor the man with a rebroadcast of one of his memorable episodes this Sunday on Fox. The character (along with a cameo-character on the Fairly Odd Parents as CatMan) brought a whole new generation of fans to know and love West just as much as their parents and grandparents before them. The West family has encouraged those who can not attend to donate to the Adam West Memorial Fund for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
