The first teaser for the new season of Game of Thrones has been released revealing a battle looming on the horizon. A theory making the rounds suggests that after the death of her son in the last season, she will go on to become what we will call "The Mad Queen".
The iconic villain's presence in Game of Thrones Season 7 promo art could mean something.
From the East, we see Grey Worm, part of Daenerys' army. Bloodthirsty Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), who's definitely on the move. We also see glimpses of everyone from Unsullied soldier Grey Worm, staring into the sun, to Melisandre, staring out onto the ocean, to Theon - or is it Reek? - staring into a fire. Surely when he makes it to King's Landing with his Khaleesi he'll want to prove to his sister that he does count.
Then we hear the sage words of Ser Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham): "If we don't put aside our enmities, and band together, we will die". And in spite of this new poster, we still don't think all out war with the White Walkers will happen until the eighth and final season. Jon is the King in the North. Sansa is with Jon, but has Littlefinger whispering in her ear, trying to divide them.
Speaking with EW, actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, explained: "I'm like, 'Already? Now?" The Dothraki are fighting someone in Westeros, presumably after disembarking all those boats.
The trailer ends with Jon announcing that "the Great War is here" and it fades to a black screen filled with anticipation. Unlike the previous six seasons, which all premiered in March or April of their respective years, the upcoming season 7 isn't slated to hit HBO until July 16.
